Donostia/San Sebastian, the capital of Gipuzkoa, is a city with around 180,000 inhabitants in the coast of the Bay of Biscay, located only a few kilometres from the French border.

 

Donostia-San Sebastian is the cultural and tourism capital of the Basque Country. The International Film Festival, The ‘Jazzaldia’ Jazz Festival and Music Fortnight are the highlights of its year-round programme, which also includes themed film festivals such as the ‘Surfilm’ Surfing Film Festival and the Film, Human Rights Festival or the Horror and Fantasy Film Festival.

 

San Sebastian is world famous as a food tourism destination, visitors can find restuarants run by prestigious international chefs, as well as many small establishments with their specialities completing a great gastronomic offer, particularly with its famous “pintxos”, as tapas are locally known.

 

The city centre is small enough, so you can walk or ride a bike to travel around. It also has a municipal comprehensive public transport network called Dbus.
